Tatarstan Series & Political Landscapes

The Tatarstan Series was painted in 2022.  Russia had just invaded Ukraine. Again. These artworks are constructed from photos and memories of days in the Republic of Tatarstan, Year of the Wood Horse, the death of a loved one, painting out the grey landscape surrounding us. Other political landscapes included, from my imagination. When facing unpleasant realities, beyond my control, I work through them with the brush.
